St. Francis Theater presents Godspell, a delightful, musical interpretation of one the most influential writings in western civilization, the Gospel According to Saint Matthew. With inspirational, Grammy Award winning music by Stephen Schwartz (Wicked & Pippin), Godspell is a high-energy, contemporary re-telling of the parables and the life of Jesus that is both comedic and inspiring. A huge Broadway and international success, Godspell remains an enduring musical favorite and includes the songs Day By Day, Beautiful City and All For the Best. Although referencing stories from the Christian tradition, audiences throughout the world have embraced Godspell’s timeless, non-denominational messages of tolerance, kindness and hope.
St. Frances Theater Ensemble is one of Tucson’s most established companies and is dedicated to bringing inclusive, high quality, and meaningful theatre experiences to the community. Godspell is directed by Marren Sanders, co-directed by Samantha Cormier and features the talents of Nick Gallardo as Jesus and Kit Runge in the role of Judas.
